In lieu of the retreat, it has been suggested by one of the parents that we could do a service project instead and suggested leaf raking, especially for members of our congregation that may need it. I think that is a GREAT idea so I would like to propose the following.
11/16 - After church, we could assemble and then head out for a few hours into the neighborhood, armed with rakes and leave bags and see what we can do! There would be NO evening activity that day.
I will check with Pastor Eric and others at the church if they have ideas whose houses we can go to.
I am also aware that at least two youth are in trainings right after church that day. That should be no problem if the parents picking them up would then have them join us when the training is complete. I will be asking for a signup for this so I can coordinate transportation, and it would be great if some parents can join us as well.
I know a weekend away can be difficult for many youth families to swing. Hopefully a few hours will be easier.
