What if "church" were a verb instead of a noun?
What if church was not a location to come to and stay within, but a base of operation for expressing your faith by moving out into communities and around the globe to become part of God's plan for world transformation?
If you found such a "place," would you come?
You are invited to explore the Advent UMC website to see for yourself how the people of Advent are rethinking and renewing what the church is and should be in the 21st century.
We are an active and engaged faith community. We hope you will find a doorway at Advent that you will be comfortable walking through in order to connect with God, with the world around you, and with a community of people that will love and care for you and help you along the journey of your life.

Feed My Starving Children
is a non-profit Christian organization committed to feeding God’s starving children hungry in body and spirit through a simple, but effective approach: children and adults hand-pack meals formulated specially for starving children, and help finance shipment of the meals to more than 60 countries around the world.
Over 1,000,000 meals packed by Advent UMC . . .
Advent has a standing commitment to bring a team of 40 volunteers to the Eagan FMSC Packing Site (990 Lone Oak Road) the third Saturday of every month from from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Volunteers may sign up for a service date by contacting the church office at 651.454.3944 or e-mail admin@advent-umc.com.
Haiti Mission
Advent has sponsored volunteer in mission teams
to Haiti annually since 2001, helping with construction
on various building projects coordinated through the
Methodist Church of Haiti. One project nearing
completion and now being used for Sunday
worship services, is the church at Ile Adam,
in northern Haiti (photo to right).
While in Haiti our team members visit
Grace Children's Hospital in Port-au-Prince,
where the children of Haiti have been receiving care
for tuberculosis and other illnesses since 1967!
The Earthquake & Grace Children's
Although Grace did not fully collapse during or
subsequent to the January 2010 earthquake
which struck near the capital city of Port-au-Prince,
the structure has been so severely damaged,
that it can no longer be used for patient care
and will require near complete reconstruction in
the coming months. Advent UMC is committed to
supporting Grace during this time of great need
and sponsored a benefit choral concert on
Sunday, April 11, 2010, raising over $5,500
for the Grace Hospital Capital Campaign!
In July 2010 volunteers from Advent took their first trip to Haiti since the January quake, to help with relief and reconstruction under the auspices of UMCOR and the Methodist Church of Haiti. Photos from the R&R trip will be available in the near future.
